The Kropotkin Sanctuary is pleased to announce that the Sixth Annual Utah Day will be honoring the most important phrase in Utah culture: This the place. The festivities will be held on Saturday, July 26th. The first event will begin around 6 pm Northwest Time.

Utah Day is Tacoma's premier celebration of ancient and esoteric Utahn foundation rituals collectively known as "the Days of '47".

This year's theme echoes the proclimation of The Prophet as the Saints approached the Salt Lake Valley: "This Is The Place." The minor mystery of this statement ("The Place" is some distance outside the valley) has been the focus of several philosophical and religous conferences. However the deeper importance of this statement to humankind's destiny has never been successfully probed. None the less, a monument has been erected.

We invite you all to commemorate "The Place" with us through a pot luck meal, spirits, fellowship, and competition. To sharpen the stakes, as always, prizes will be awarded, and shame and derision will be heaped on nonparticipants.

Jello, as always, is an excellent medium in which to celebrate the Pretty Great State of Utah. However, in the ecumenical spirit of the times, we invite entries in the totemic food of your chosen people. Special consideration will be given to entries that celebrate The Place: the spiritual, utopian, statistical, or demographic home of your people. The organizers also regret that our refrigerator space will be limited, and call on participants to bring your own appropriately sized jello-containing chilled housing.

Dogs and children are welcome. The Kropotkin Sanctuary encourages those who wish to over imbibe to spend the night. A traditional fruit and donut mission will be launched in the morning. The Kropotkin Sanctuary respectfully request regrets or statements of intent to participate by July 24, 2003.
